How To Crochet Double Crochet Increase

One essential technique that every crocheter should master is the double crochet increase stitch. This stitch not only adds height and texture to your projects but also allows you to create larger and more complex patterns.

First Double Crochet

  1. Yarn over.
  2. Insert the hook into the designated stitch
  3. Pull the yarn through the stitch. You should now have three loops on your crochet hook.
  4. Yarn over again and pull it through the first two loops on your hook, leaving two loops remaining.
  5. Yarn over again and pull it through the last two loops on your hook.

Second Double Crochet

  1. Yarn over.
  2. Insert the hook into the same stitch as in the first double crochet.
  3. Pull the yarn through the stitch. You should now have three loops on your crochet hook.
  4. Yarn over again and pull it through the first two loops on your hook, leaving two loops remaining.
  5. Yarn over again and pull it through the last two loops on your hook.

Put simply, the technique involves working two double crochet stitches into a single stitch. This results in an increased stitch count and adds height and texture to your crochet project.
