How To Crochet Magic Ring With Double Crochet

Magic ring is a great way to begin your project because it creates a tight center that won’t unravel over time.

Magic Ring With Slip Stitch

  1. To start, make a double loop ring by creating two loops with your yarn, placing one loop over the other.
  2. Insert your hook into both loops, and chain 3. This will count as your first double crochet stitch.
  3. Make 11 more double crochet stitches into the magic ring.
  4. Find the lower loop and pull the yarn to close the ring.
  5. Pull the tail of the yarn to finish the magic ring.
  6. Join with round start using slip stitch.

Magic Ring With Invisible Join

  1. To start, make a double loop ring by creating two loops with your yarn, placing one loop over the other.
  2. Insert your hook into both loops, and chain 3. This will count as your first double crochet stitch.
  3. Make 11 more double crochet stitches into the magic ring.
  4. Join with round start using slip stitch.
  5. Fasten off the yarn.
  6. Find the lower loop and pull the yarn to close the ring.
  7. Pull the tail of the yarn to finish the magic ring.
  8. Insert your hook into the second stitch of the round, from front to back. Pull yarn through.
  9. Insert your hook into back loop of the last stitch, from back to front. Pull yarn through.

And that’s it! You’ve successfully started your project with a magic ring and 12 double crochet circle.
