Unique Design Easy Mandala DROPS – FREE CROCHET PATTERN

Mandala Drops pattern

This mandala design was created on one rainy day this winter. Later I have decided to write down the pattern. This mandala is quick and easy to make, most of stitches are rather simple.

Skill level: easy
Size: approx. 21 cm in diameter

Introduction

Materials

Yarn – Scheepjes Catona, 50 g = 125 m

  • Color O (olive) – 387 Dark Olive
  • Color G (green) – 212 Sage Green
  • Color W (white) – 505 Linen

Crochet hook size 2,5 mm

Abbreviations

ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
lsc – long single crochet
inc -2 sc into one st
dc-inc – 2 dc into one st
st – stitch
slst – slipstitch

Written Pattern

Round 1:
With O yarn start into magic ring with ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc. Do not cut the yarn. Join with start of the round with slst. (12 dc)

Round 2:
Continue with O yarn. ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 dc in the same st, *dc-inc* repeat 11 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (12*2dc=24 dc)

Round 3:
With W yarn start in one of the spaces between 2 dc groups. ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc, *3 dc into the space between 2 dc groups from round 2* repeat 11 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (12*3 dc=36 dc)

Round 4:
With O yarn start in first st of any 3 dc group. ch 1 (counts as sc), 2 sc, 1 long sc into into the space in the middle of 2 dc on the round 2, *3 sc, 1 long sc into the space in the middle of 2 dc on the round 2* repeat 11 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. ((3 sc+1 lsc)*12 = 48 sc)

Round 5:
With G yarn start in any st. ch 1 (counts as sc), 47 sc. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (48 sc)

Round 6:
With O yarn start in any st. ch 1 (counts as sc), 47 sc. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (48 sc)

Round 7:
With G yarn start in any st. ch 3 (counts as dc), dc-inc, *dc, dc-inc* repeat 23 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (72 dc)

Round 8:
With W yarn start in space between 2 dc of any inc shell. ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc into the same space, *3 dc shell into space between 2 dc of next dc-inc shell* repeat 23 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (24 “3dc-shell”)

Round 9:
With O yarn start in any ch space. ch 3 (counts as dc), 3 dc into the same space, *4 dc shell into ch space* repeat 23 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (24 “4dc-shell”=96dc)

Round 10:
With G yarn start in any st. ch 1 (counts as sc), 95 sc. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (96 sc)

Round 11:
With O yarn start in any st. ch 3 (counts as dc), 95 dc. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (96 dc)

Round 12:
With W yarn start in space between any dc. ch 1 (counts as sc), sc into the same space, ch 1, skip 1, *2 sc shell into space between two dc, ch 1, skip 1* repeat 47 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with slst. (48 “2sc- shell+ch1”)

Round 13:
With O yarn start in any ch space. ch 1 (counts as sc), 2 sc into the same space, *3 sc shell into next ch space* repeat 47 times. Do not cut the yarn. Join with start of the round with slst. (48 “3sc-shell”=144sc)

Round 14:
Continue with O yarn. ch 1 (counts as sc), 143 sc. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (144 sc)

Round 15:
With G yarn start in any st. ch 3 (counts as dc), 143 dc. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (144 dc)

Round 16:
With W yarn start in any st. ch 1 (counts as sc), ch 1, skip1, *sc, ch 1, skip 1* repeat 71 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with slst. (72 “sc+ch”)

Round 17:
With G yarn start in any ch space. ch 1 (counts as sc), sc into the same ch space, *2 sc into next ch space* repeat 71 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (72 “2sc”=144sc)

Round 18:
With O yarn start in any st. ch 1 (counts as sc), 143 sc. Do not cut the yarn. Join with start of the round with with slst. (144 sc)

Round 19:
Continue with O yarn. ch 1, 1 sc into the same st, skip 1, 4 dc shell into one st, skip 1, *sc, skip 1, 4 dc shell into one st, skip 1* repeat 20 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (44 4dc-shell + sc)

Weave in yarn ends. After finishing the mandala, I recommend doing blocking with iron. Put mandala with wrong side up. Put wet towel on top. Iron shortly.
