Beautiful Design Mandala Tulips – FREE CROCHET PATTERN

Tulip mandala

This mandala design was created recently, when everything around started to bloom. This mandala is quick to make, most of stitches are rather simple. Depends on your yarn, but if it is similar to my used Scheepjes Catona, then it will be beautiful coaster for coffee. Also it can be framed and used as a small wall hanging decoration.

Size: approx. 12 cm in diameter

Introduction

Materials

Yarn – Scheepjes Catona, 50 g = 125 m

  • Color S (sage green) – 212 Sage Green
  • Color F (fir green) – 525 Fir
  • Color B (brown) – 157 Root Bear
  • Color Y (yellow) – 249 Saffron

Crochet hook size 2,5 mm

Abbreviations

US notation is used.

ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
tc – treble crochet
FPtc – front post treble crochet
FPdc – front post double crochet
st – stitch
slst – slipstitch

Mandala Pattern

Round 1:
With B yarn start into magic ring with ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (12 dc)

Round 2:
With S yarn start in any st. ch 3 (counts as dc), 1 dc in the same st, *2 dc in each st* repeat 11 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (12*2dc=24 dc)

Round 3:
With F yarn start in any st. ch 3 (counts as dc), dc-inc, *dc, dc-inc* repeat 11 times. Do not cut the yarn. Join with start of the round with slst. (12*3 dc=36 dc)

Round 4:
All stitches will be into round 2. With S yarn start in st below of the first st on round 3. As a front post st, ch 4 (counts as tc), ch 3, skip 1, *FPtc, ch 3, skip 1* repeat 11 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with slst. (12 FPtc-ch3)


Round 5:
Continue with F yarn, pull yarn into front of the round. ch 1 (counts as sc), sc into the same st (on round 3) and together with crocheting into chain space (from round 4), skip 1 on round 3, *into next st on round 3 together with ch space (from round 4) – inc, inc, skip 1 on round 3* repeat 11 times, inc into next st on round 3 together with ch space (from round 4). Do not cut the yarn. Join with start of the round with slst. (12 inc-inc = 48 sc)

Round 6:
With S yarn start in any FPtc st on round 4. ch 3 (counts as dc) into space under st, 3 dc into the same space, *4 dc into space under FPtc st on round 4* repeat 11 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (12 4dc = 48 dc)

Round 7:
Continue with F yarn. ch 1 (counts as sc), skip 1 on round 5, *sc into space between dc shells on round 6, 3 sc into round 5, skip 1 on round 5* repeat 11 times, sc into space between dc shells on round 6, 2 sc into round 5. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (12 4sc=48)

Round 8:
With Y yarn start in the round 6, into space between 2dc and 2dc, with ch 2 (counts as start of dc2tog), dc to finish dc2tog, ch 1, dc2tog, ch 1, dc2tog, ch, *into the middle of next 4dc shell of round 6 (between 2dc and 2dc) – dc2tog, ch 1, dc2tog, ch 1, dc2tog, ch 1* repeat 11 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with slst. (12 dc2tog-ch- dc2tog-chdc2tog-ch)

Round 9:
With F yarn start in any ch space. ch 1 (counts as sc), sc into the same ch space. *inc into next ch space* repeat 35 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (36 inc=72 sc)

Round 10:
With B yarn start in any st back loop. ch 1 (counts as sc), 71 sc into back loop. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (72 sc)

Round 11:
With F yarn start in any st. ch 1 (counts as sc), 71 sc. Join with start of the round with slst. Do not cut the yarn. (72 sc)

Round 12:
Continue with F yarn. ch 1, 1 sc into the same st, skip 1, 4 dc shell into one st, skip 1, *sc, skip 1, 4 dc shell into one st, skip 1* repeat 17 times. Fasten off yarn. Join with start of the round with invisible join. (18 4dc- shell + sc)

Weave in yarn ends. After finishing the mandala, I recommend doing blocking with iron. Put mandala with wrong side up. Put wet towel on top. Iron shortly.
