Round Join from the Back – Perfect for Mosaic Crochet
One of the challenges in mosaic crochet is changing colors in each round while keeping your work neat and tidy. To achieve a clean and polished look, use the “Join from the Back” technique. Here’s how it works:
- When you reach the end of a round and need to join with a slip stitch, instead of joining in the usual way (inserting your hook into the top of the first stitch), flip your work to the backside.
- Insert your hook from back to front through the top of the first stitch of the round.
- Next, insert your hook into the loop of last stitch.
- Pull this loop through the loop already on your hook. This creates a slip stitch that joins the round, but it’s hidden on the backside of your work.
This technique creates an almost invisible join on the front side, giving your mosaic crochet project a clean and seamless appearance.

CHART
NOTE
Notice that there’s sign of start of round on the chart. Since we end rounds from the back, and in order to hide this join, we start crocheting new round not into st directly below but into the next st.
